how do you identify … and why do you hide?

“I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.” Maya Angelou

This latest body of work is probably the most political I have ever undertaken. Horrified by the changing political climate and the hatred directed towards and the misunderstanding surrounding gender and sexual diversity, I feel it is imperative for me to use my visual voice to reach out, to support, to educate and to celebrate the beauty and complexity of the human body.

I feel very blessed not only to have beloved family members and friends within the 2SLGBTQ+ communities, but that I live in a province in a country where information about gender and sexual diversity is posted on our government website - celebrating the humanness of all of us. I am very cognizant how fortunate we are here in Canada -and yet there is still so much hatred born of fear towards those different from what the mainstream sees as normal both from within our own country and certainly from other countries around the world. I attempt to speak to that through my work.
